City Reopening Warming Center For Individuals Seeking Shelter

FOREST PARK, Ga. Jan. 19, 2024 — The City of Forest Park is reopening up its warming center for individuals in need of shelter from expected low temperatures. The warming center, which is located at the Forest Park Recreation Center (803 Forest Pkwy.), opens today, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m. and closes at 7 a.m. tomorrow, Jan 20. The warming center will open back up to the general public at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Jan. 20, and close on Sunday, Jan, 21, at 7 a.m.

City officials can accommodate up to 50 individuals at the warming center. Snacks and bottled water will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Individuals interested in volunteering or donating items such as sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, hand soap, paper towels, toiletries and feminine products are asked to contact Tarik Maxwell at (404) 925-6019.
