Councilwoman Kimberly James of Ward 1
Known for her commitment to ethical leadership, community empowerment and public service, Councilwoman Kimberly James has been a dedicated member of the Forest Park governing body since January 2018. As an elected official representing Ward 1 in Clayton County’s largest municipality, Mrs. James continues to champion progressive, bold initiatives that strengthen civic trust, promote transparency within local government and above all – enhance the quality of life for Forest Park residents.
In addition to her role as councilmember, Mrs. James is the current chair of the Urban Redevelopment Agency (URA) Board, where she helps guide policies that shape the ongoing economic development efforts at the Gillem Logistics Center. Under her leadership, the URA continues to play a vital role in attracting millions of dollars in capital investments and supporting small, medium and Fortune 500 companies throughout the city.
A strong advocate for continuing education and financial literacy, Mrs. James has served as the parent and community liaison at Forest Park High School since 2019 – fostering stronger relationships between families, schools and businesses. She has also successfully completed a wide range of professional trainings and courses on topics such as revitalizing neighborhoods, urban design trends, economic development, senior care assistance programs, cultural diversity and solutions for homelessness.
A proud Forest Park resident since 1995, Mrs. James and her husband, Nate, have four children. She holds an honors bachelor's degree in computer information systems DeVry Institute of Technology and is an active volunteer with several nonprofits throughout metro Atlanta, including Helping Hands Ending Hunger, an organization devoted to supporting food giveaways and fundraisers for individuals in need. Above all, Mrs. James’ work efforts and accomplishments truly reflect her deep passion for improving the lives of residents through policy, outreach and collaboration.
