Request an Open Record 

To obtain records, please complete and submit a Request for Public Records to the City Clerk. All Open Records Request must immediately be forwarded to the City Clerk (Official Records Custodian) to acknowledge receipt of such requests.

The City Clerk is the Records Custodian

The custodian of the records of the city shall not allow any person to take away from the city hall or any other place where the records are lawfully stored any records for any purpose whatsoever, unless by competent and lawful court order, except by motion of the governing body.(Code 1959, § 2-15)


How long does an Open Records request take?

Upon receipt of the request, the City Clerk’s office will make the most requested information available within three (3) business days of the date received in the office, for review by the requestor. The requestor must visit City Hall to review the information available. A verbal request will be honored in the same manner as a written request.


Fees
There is a copying charge of $0.10 per page. The requestor may also be subject to administrative charges for search, retrieval, and other direct administrative costs. Associated administrative costs do not exceed the salary of the lowest paid full-time employee who, at the discretion of the custodian of records, has the necessary skill and training to perform the request. The requestor will not be charged for the first fifteen minutes of time. All Open Records Request fees must be received from the requestor upon review of the documents and a decision is made by the requestor.

When the city clerk is called upon from time to time to prepare and certify any copies of official records in his office, the costs of said preparation and certification shall be paid at the rate of one dollar ($1.00) per page. (Code 1986, § 2-3-26; Ord. No. 88-015, 10-17-88)
